Together with the University of Antwerp (Belgium) and the Bahir Dar University (Ethiopia) a first draft of the educational platform will be designed in the fall of 2021. A competitive program will be designed following international standards to provide education in Art Conservation and Restoration and Management. This program is supported by the Flemish Government of Belgium and The Ethiopian Governmental Authorities. Therefore, together with local participants in both Belgium and Ethiopia an effective funding program is designed.

As a first start the biggest house for theatre in Flanders, TONEELHUIS, has engaged by providing their wonderful home ‘Bourla Theater’ for a philanthropic event, launched for The Ethiopian Art Conservation Program. Currently, EACP, is looking for participants that shares its values to fund and help grow the program.

The grand benefit that will be held at TONEELHUIS at the end of August 2021 will consist of both a wonderful dinner alongside a high end art auction that focuses on African Art. For this occasion EACP has the pleasure to join forces with writer and curator Bruno Claessens, director of Duende Art Projects and former European director of the African & Oceanic art department at Christie’s Paris.

It is both the first official introduction of the program as it will also create wonderful allies across borders as it will be the start of a series of educative events in Belgium and Ethiopia.

EACP is seeking funding from institutions, organizations and individuals that believe in the same ethics. Sponsorship is sought to make the project structurally larger, but not to build it up in terms of content. The definition in the mission statement and in the ethical agreements made with third parties remain the first form of content input of the training. A neutral form of fundraising is strived for. In the second instance the project is open to collaborate with sponsors about future perspectives.

Philanthropic event to officially mark the launch of the Ethopian Art Conservation Program. The first presentation of EACP in Belgium including gala dinner, art auction and networking to sponsor the working budget of the program.
